The
Language and Cultural Access Program (LCAP) was established by
Asian Health Services in 1994 to help reduce language and cultural
barriers that immigrants face in accessing health care.
The
program specializes in providing language services and trainings
specifically tailored to the unique needs of the health care field.
In addition, we engage in advocacy efforts to improve health care
access for limited-English speakers.
Interpreting
Services
The majority of our interpreting services
are provided on-site in a face-to-face manner. LCAP clients value
our interpreter’s commitment to delivering professional
services which facilitate communication and rapport between health
professionals and their patients.
Besides
interpreting for medical visits, we also provide pre-scheduled
phone interpreting, relay of interpreted messages, retrieval of
multilingual voice mail messages, recording of multilingual voice
mail messages, and simultaneous interpreting of health workshops
and meetings.
Translation
and Multilingual Health Education Materials Development
LCAP can help you develop easy-to-read,
culturally-appropriate, multilingual health materials. We can
assist in the full process (testing concepts, reviewing and adapting
for cultural appropriateness, editing for readability, desk-top
publishing, etc). Or we can help with just one step—such
as translation. Languages: Spanish and Asian languages.
Multilingual
Focus Group and Field Testing Services
Interested in focus group testing or field
testing translated health materials, surveys, or health promotion
messages? LCAP can recruit limited-English speaking participants,
translate facilitator’s guides and field surveys, provide
bilingual facilitators and survey administrators, transcribe and
translate focus groups, and other related services. Primary Languages:
Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. Inquire about other
languages.
Rental
of Simultaneous Interpreting Equipment
Avoid losing momentum and the wasted down-time
of consecutive interpreting at your next bilingual or multilingual
event. LCAP can provide the transmitters, receivers, and simultaneous
interpreters.
