If you have private commercial health insurance, Asian Health Services can enroll you as a patient. We accept most private health insurance. At this time, we do not accept Kaiser Health Insurance.

To enroll as an AHS member, call us at (510) 986-6880 to make an eligibility department appointment. During your eligibility appointment we will explain to you the many services which are available at AHS. You will also be able to scan the profiles of our highly-trained providers, and select one of them who is covered by your health plan.

The actual eligibility process takes about 20 minutes. It mainly involves selecting your Primary Care Provider at Asian Health Services. To make this selection we will need to have certain information about your current coverage. Your health insurance plan should allow you to see your Asian Health Services physician within one month from the time of your selection. If this is an urgent problem, you might be able to see a doctor immediately.

To streamline the eligibility process, please call us first at (510) 986-6880 and have the following information available. We can pre-fill-out a form for you, so that your eligibility appointment can be more efficient.

1. Identify your Current Insurance Plan. For example, Aetna HMO, HealthNet, etc.
2. Identify your Subscriber name on your Private Insurance card. Sometimes the name you use may not be the same exact name on your Subscriber card.
3. Identify the Group ID name.
4. Identify your current Primary Care Provider (PCP).
5. If you know who you would like to have as your Primary Care Provider at Asian Health Services, let us know.

At the time of your eligibility appointment, do not forget to bring your Health Insurance card with you!
