Asian Health Services established a Community Care Fund starting July 1997 to raise funds to cover the costs of medical care for the indigent in the East Bay Asian Community. Nearly 50% of the Asian Health Services' clients are uninsured. Over 70% of Asian Health Services' clients are under poverty level. With the specter of welfare reform dropping many legal Asian immigrants off of the Medi-Cal rolls, Asian Health Services anticipates that the number of medically indigent Asians in Alameda county will grow to record levels.

AHS now accepts Medi-Cal, Medicare, Medi-Cal Managed Care (Blue Cross CaliforniaCare and Alameda Alliance for Health), Senior HMO plans (Senior Plus, Secure Horizons and more), Commerical HMO plans and private insurance.
